In addition to manufacturing new equipment, Merritt offers machinery
upgrades and custom rebuilding.
We have extensive rebuilding experience with Merritt, Coe, Capital and other
brands, updating older machinery with state-of-the-art features to produce
better quality veneer more efficiently and reliably.
We have replaced mechanical gearboxes with digital servo motion controls
on lathes, slicers, and staylogs. Our servo drives utilize heavy-duty
maintenance-free brushless A.C. servo motors and ball bearing feedscrews
with anti-backlash air cylinders. This results in higher carriage speeds and
faster roundups on veneer lathes. The knife carriage is automatically
returned at core (or backing board on veneer slicers), contributing to
improved production. A memory/return feature on veneer slicers allows the
knife carriage to be returned to the correct position after honing the knife.
Complementing the carriage drive are servo motors for pressure gap
movement, knife pitch angle adjustment, two thickness, round-up, etc.
Features include a user-friendly keypad for thickness input and setup of
other important parameters, extensive troubleshooting and status displays,
and modem with flash memory card for easy PLC program updates.
We have converted dozens of older machines, enabling our customers to
obtain modern technology without the significant capital expenditure required
for new machinery.
