General Description
Very heavy duty construction throughout for maximum stability and optimum performance when peeling thin veneers with intermittent cutting. Welded steel, stress relieved construction. All surfaces in contact with veneer constructed of stainless steel, and corrosion resistant materials used throughout. Knife carriage and pressure cap prepared for future addition of thermo-oil heating.
Spindles
Polished and chrome plated construction sliding in thick wall cast iron or bronze bushings. Wipers provided to prevent dirt ingress. Spindle rotating bearings are Timken taper roller. Single hydraulic cylinder operation.
Main Drive
Quadruple strand roller chain with dry lubrication. 75 HP D.C. drive direct coupled and integrally pre-mounted to the lathe base. Air operated disc brake to prevent rotation with unbalanced burls and facilitate operator attention. Slow jog both forward and reverse for accurate positioning. Spindle speed 0 - 100 rpm.
Carriage Feeding
Heavy duty ball bearing feedscrews with air cylinder anti-backlash rrangement. A.C. servo drive feed motor, with 3 thickness selection, Thk 1, Thk 2, and Round Up Thk 3.
Pressure Cap Movement
Single servo drive movement automatically positions the nose bar correctly for each of the 3 thicknesses selected. This same movement is used for opening for honing or changing the knife.
Knife Pitch
Contoured pitch tracks are provided to automatically change the knife head angle as log diameter decreases. Motorized manual adjustment also provided.
Controls
Easy to understand operator control panel with keypad for thickness changing. Digital panel displays Thickness, Nose Bar Position, and Knife Angle for Set Up purposes.
Lubrication
Manual grease lubrication throughout; no oil dripping. Synthetic grease recommended.
Knife Carriage
Heavy welded steel construction. Solid slotless knives with adjusting screws for pre-setting the correct knife height for fast knife changing. Heavy plated tool steel knife clamps with manual hex nut clamping. Unique stainless steel
ribbed back to facilitate veneer travel.
Pressure Cap
Heavy closed back construction with local nose bar adjustment — one man operation! |
